He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Steese and Beulah Dauberman Steese. He is survived by: his wife Betty Jo Steese; his children, Pamela Jo Helmey (Eddie) and David Steese (Georgiana); his grandchildren, Jina Perdue (Jay), Chris Helmey (Anna), Hannah Hayes (Tyler) and Nicholas David Steese; and his great grandchildren, Milo, Wilder Perdue, Colton and Easton Helmey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
