He is survived by: his wife Lindsey Mixon; his children, Ella Mixon of Soperton, Emree Mixon of Soperton and Brex Mixon of Soperton; his mother Alta Bray of Higgston; his brothers, John William Mixon, Jr. (Emily) of Glennville and Nick Jones (Violet) of Vidalia; his siblings-in-law, Alicia Tidwell (Nick) of Dublin and Corey Wren (Kristen) of Rentz; and his parents-in-law, Kim Wren and Wendell Wren of Soperton.

Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations are suggested to the Treutlen County Recreation Department, 713 Old Dairy Road, Soperton, GA 30457.

“To Zach Mixons Wife and Kids, I'm so sorry for your loss. I deployed with Zach on the MEU in 2010. He was one of the bravest people I ever met. I was so impressed by the strength he had in his convictions. He had more heart then 5 men combined. A real man's man. He had beliefs and stuck to them. We used to argue sometimes, but no matter what, I always respected him. He was reliable and trust worthy. I believe he was as fine a Marine as you can be. I'll miss him alot. Sincerely, Tom Kenney”
