He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Daniel Shepherd and Hattie Eva Kersey Shepherd; and his siblings, Merle S. Holton, Mildred Shepherd, Madie S. Smith, Mattie Kate Shepherd, Doris Nell Shepherd, Faye S. Coleman Wood, Betty S. Duffee and Ezra Darvin Shepherd.
He is survived by: his wife Emmeline Wynn Shepherd; his children, Anita G. Shepherd of Dublin, GA, Stacy E. Shepherd (Gay) of Rockledge, GA, Ricky Shepherd (Deborah) of Bonaire, GA, Terry Shepherd (Bonita) of Rockledge, GA and Tammy Bayto (Johnny) of Dublin, GA; his sisters, Elaine S. Sheffield (Lonnie) of Rentz, GA and Hilda S. Hackle (Bobby) of Dublin, GA; and his sister-in-law Annette Shepherd of Soperton, GA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
