He was predeceased by: his son Randall "Randy" Thomas Hurt of Marietta. He is survived by: his wife Roseanna "Sandy" Hurt of Smyrna, GA; his children, Victor Jack Hurt of Canton, GA and Sherry Lynn Elrod of Dallas, GA; and his stepsons, Scott Sanders Goss of Carnesville, GA and Jeremy James Goss of Smyrna, GA.. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren.

He was also an active participant in the American Cancer Society as well as Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
