We are sad to announce that on November 21, 2020, at the age of 87, Margaret Mabell Dukes of Smyrna, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Thomas B. Dukes, Sr.; and her granddaughter Terri Lynn Webb. She is survived by: her children, Linda Dukes Mercer, Cora Winnie Dukes Blevins, Thomas Belmont Dukes, Jr., Joseph Paul Dukes and Robert Sidney Dukes; her grandchildren, Brandy Comstock, Joey Dukes, Kenny Webb and Jesse Michael Mercer; and her great grandchildren, Evan Landon Mercer, Wyatt Dukes and Anna Comstock. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

“I was around Margaret fairly often throughout my 23 year period of incarceration, and never once did I hear her say a bad word about anyone else - not even about me when I'd make her ride in my POS Convertible Truck in winter to go get her a stove or something Margaret was unsophisticated, but very smooth....seemed to me, she always knew "what time it was"; I don't recall anyone ever getting anything past her. Great lady. Except I can say she probably didn't beat Linda hard or often enough! :)”

“Margaret Dukes was one of the best people I've ever known. She was honest to a fault, didn't know HOW to pull any punches - if she thought it, she said it, and with a big 'ol grin, 'cause she didn't care if it sat well with you or not...actually, I think she enjoyed it when it did not sit well....when I'd try to get her to admit she was just as big an asshole as ME, she was too sweet to say so...but she just grinned in acknowledgment, enjoying the shared notoriety...”
