He is survived by: his wife Jean Covington Gibson of Smithville, Georgia; his children, Eric Stevens of Orlando, Luther Washington of Americus, Burk Washington of Austin and Gailer Baity of Augusta, Georgia; his nieces, Sharon Jackson (Ansley) of Americus and Selina T. Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his great-nephew Kyle Champion; his aunt Edna Champion of Buena Vista, Georgia; his siblings-in-law, Mildred Gipson of Stuart, Rosa Lee Davis of Las Vegas, Carrie Covington of Tampa, Florida, Edward Covington of Tampa, Albert Cherry of Illinois and Jacob Battle; and his close friends, Dennis and Annie Pearl Young.
