He was predeceased by: his parents, William Tarzan Sylvester Clayton and Jessie Lee Mayes Clayton; his son Jerry Dale Clayton; and his siblings, Amzie Johnson, Vendia Trotter, J. F. Clayton and Billy Clayton.
He is survived by: his wife Sara Helton Clayton; his children, Danny Clayton, Vicki Clayton Little and Sheree Clayton Willerson (Michael); his grandchildren, Eric "Pumpkin" Little (Nicole), Jeremy Clayton, Davaughn Clayton, Davanna Conkwright (Chance) and Austin McCain; his sister Doris Ann Clayton of Satsuma, FL; and his nieces and nephews, Nick Lindsay, Hannah, Micah Taylor, Rev. Patrick Lindsay, Daniel, Elizabeth Sebesta, Megan, Lex, Anya Gilbert, Tommy, Nancy, Will Helton, Andrea and Gary Sebesta. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
