He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Lee Cox and Dovie Mae Miller Cox; his wife Nadine Tate Cox; his son Gary Hoyt Cox; his granddaughter Kimberly Cox; and his siblings, Blanche Lemaster, Mary Sisson, Pauline Burkhalter, Bertha Newberry, Ella Mae Watters, Margaret Fricks, Patsy Sheffield, Howard Cox, Harold Cox and Herman Cox.
He is survived by: his sons, Steve Cox (Janice) and Randy Cox (Reba) of Madisonville, TN; his daughter-in-law Mary Cox; and his grandchildren, Gary Cox, Jr., Greg Cox, Candice Dennis (Mike), Chris Cox (Taylor), Halei Scuvotti (Don), Jarrad Cox, Matthew Cox (Maryn), Kristin Cox and DeVone Staggs (Michael). He is also survived by great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
