With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joyce Commander of Shellman, Georgia, born in Cuthbert, Georgia, who passed away on June 6, 2022 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Wesley Benjamin Commander, Jr. and Laurette Aycock Strickland; and her brother Wesley Benjamin Commander, III (Sonny). She is survived by: her son James "Jimbo" Shumate (Deirdre) of Plains; her sisters, Patricia Duke of Shellman and Brenda Smith of Shellman; and her grandchildren, Jennifer, Jack and Bentley. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.
