He was predeceased by: his parents, Creed Higdon and Nellie Higdon; his siblings, Grady Higdon and Louise Manis; and his grandson Matthew Christopher.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Higdon; his sons, Mark Higdon (Jennifer), Matt Higdon (Lisa) and Jeff Higdon (Buffey); his grandchildren, Caleb Higdon, Nathan Higdon, Benjamin Higdon, Chase Higdon, Creed Higdon, Nate Christopher, Tiffany Burns, Bristeyn Durham, Khenidi Pippin and Landrhe Higdon; his great grandchildren, Kyleigh Higdon, Bennett Higdon, Judson Burns, Brooks Higdon and Amelia Durham; and his brother Jimmy Higdon (Linda) of Tunnel Hill.
