He is survived by: his wife Sharon Elaine Mixon Merritt of Waycross; his children, Donnie Merritt, Jr. (Julia) of Alma, Cecil Merritt (Sabrina) of Blackshear, Ivey Merritt of Dixon Union, Donna Jean Cantrell (Jeff) of Atlanta and Shanna Goolsby (David) of Atlanta; and his siblings, Vickie Rowell (Johnny) of Manor, Glinda Keller (Chris) of Brunswick, Sylvia Waldo of Tybee Island, Nicole Wharton of Waycross, James "Cricket" Merritt of Manor and Russ Toler of Waycross. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
