He was predeceased by: his parents, Riley Stansell and Lillian Gowens Stansell; and his sister Mary Ann Wade. He is survived by: his children, Jenny Wilkerson (Ronnie) and Jason Stansell; his brothers, Ray Stansell and Donald McCreary; his grandchildren, Cortney Couey, Elise Sledge, Dustin Wilkerson, Victoria Wilkerson and Justin Stansell; and his great grandchildren, Olivia Jones, Mason Couey and Memphis Sledge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
