He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Powell and Ethel Powell; his wife Vernette Frawley Powell; and his siblings, Lucy Jane Powell and Derward Powell.
He is survived by: his children, Ray Powell (Kathy), Jeffrey Powell (Susan) and Heidi Mixson (Bruce); his siblings, Fenton Powell (Betty), Sue McLeod and Charlie Powell (Sara); his grandchildren, Jessica Tomlin (Andy), Christopher Powell, Bridget Gordon (Wyman), William Powell (Brittany), Emily Pirkle (Derrick), Laurel Powell, Hannah Powell and Rachel Powell; and his great grandchildren, Ava Grayce Gordon, Isla Wren Gordon, Mixson Tomlin, Garrison Pirkle and Wilkes Tomlin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
