He was predeceased by: his mother Dixie Youmans; his sister Katie Hernandez; and his grandparents, Kathleen and T. C. Roberson. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis C. Woods of Screven; his sons, Stephen, Chris and James; his mother-in-law Edna Counts of Jesup; and his brother Corbette Woods (Hope) of Blackshear. He is also survived by several grandchildren, a niece and 3 nephews.
