He is survived by: his wife Sue Hodges Mathis; his children, James Swinney, Will Swinney (Betsy), Deena Britt (Matt), Janie Peaster, Leslie Pitts (Brian) and Susan Burnett (Jon); his grandchildren, Daniel Kilgore, Emma Ledbetter (Josh), Wil Wade (Rachael), Leah, Jack, Eva Swinney, Grace Donaldson, Fisher, Annalise Britt, Libby, Luke Peaster, Joseph, Sophia Pitts, Raine and Ella Morrison; his great grandchildren, Abel Ledbetter, Hardin and Graham Wade; his brothers, Wallace Mathis (Lori) and Wesley Mathis (Beverly); and his sisters-in-law, Melanie Mathis and Beth Hodges. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
