It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Rufus Ellis of Savannah, Georgia, born in Hazlehurst, Georgia, who passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory Clyde Ellis and Ethel Maudine Benson Ricks; and his daughter Donna Ellis Wilds. He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his sons, Joe (Jenn) of Winston, Salem and Dale of Savannah; his grandchildren, Cody Ellis, Joey Ellis (Melanie), Joey Poole (Nicole), Jessica Mitchem (Bob) and Brandon Poole (Sunny); and his sisters, Sue Bristow (Larry) of Talahi Island, GA and Janice Fogle (Gordy) of Catawba, SC. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
