It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Johnathan C. Carthon (Savannah, Georgia), who passed away on July 22, 2024, at the age of 48, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James C. Carthon and Miriam Collins Carthon; and his brother James C. Carthon, Jr.. He is survived by: his sisters, Michele Carthon of Savannah, Iris Carthon of Savannah and Megan Carthon of New York. He is also survived by pets; aunts uncles, cousin, other relatives and friends.

“At Emory last July, I presented John with a hand turned mug as a small thank you for all the sacrifice he had made in spending 2 days with me at the NJCL convention. He later stated that he was using the mug to enjoy his hot tea each morning. He also sent me this picture to illustrate what he had written.”

“John was like a son to me and my wife Dee. John was my JCL president in 1994, his senior year. The number of things John did for me would fill pages. He served as one of my groomsmen in 1994. Most recently, he spent two days with me at Emory University in Atlanta at the NJCL convention, where he and Tina Riddle presented me with the Silver Bowl Award for having attended 20 NJCL conventions. His memory will be never ending, and I shall see him again when we meet on that beautiful shore.”
