He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Harry Lord and Ouida Bonnie Durrence; his brothers, Harry Dewayne Lord and Ray Chester Lord; his brother-in-law Charles Edward Novinger; and his grandson Jacob Stephen Lord.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Alice Lord; his sisters, Joyce Ann Petty (Maurice) and Diane Ida Novinger; his sister-in-law Sharon Lord; his children, Barbara Ann Rahn (Spencer), Ouida Lord (David VanDyke) and Gary Lord II; his grandchildren, Jennifer Zeigler (Mark), William Barton II (Misty), Christopher Barton and Joshua Lord; his great grandchildren, Katelyn (Bodhi), Rose, Kendra, Trace, Brantley, Mason and Kase; and his great great grandchildren, Koe and Magnolia.
