Annie Ruth Edwards Cawley Obituary
A women loved by many. She was born in Savannah, GA on February 24, 1947 as the first twin to the late James Edwards & Freddie Mae Shuman both of Savannah, GA.
She attended Chatham County Public School for early education and was a stay at home mom of 6 children and many more of her 'Sesame Street' children she so loved.
She was preceded in death by her late parents, a sister Mary Johnson, her daughter Annie Mobley, a son Vernon Carter Jr., and brothers-in-law Henry Johnson and Willie Kirkland.
She leaves a daughter, Shirley Riley of GA, her sons, Henry Cawley of Savannah, Timothy (Dee) Lott Cawley of Atlanta, Harvey Cawley of Savannah, and Harvey Cooley of Savannah, her beautiful sisters, Betty Kirkland of NC and Ruthie Mae (James) Davis Sr. of FL, an uncle James Shuman Sr. of Savannah, special daughter-nieces Patricia Willis (Roger) of NC, and Rose (Kendell) Youman of SC, son-in-laws, Dennis Mobley and Nathaniel Riley, Jr., special children Michael (Brenda) Shuman of NC, Mark Simmons of Savannah, Keira Grant of Atlanta, Platoria Smith of Savannah, Lori Brightwell of Savannah, Phillip Baker of Savannah, and her special great-great grandson Zihe Smokey Cooley, as well as 28 grandkids, 51 great-grandkids, 4 great-great grandkids, 4 nieces, 7 nephews, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, September 4, 2022, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue.
