He was predeceased by: his sister Delana Smith; and his brother-in-law Dwayne Gregory. He is survived by: his sons, Toby Chappell of Atlanta and Davis Chappell of Griffin; his sister Linda Gregory of Griffin; his brother-in-law Wayne Smith of Griffin; and his nieces and nephews, Jeff Smith of Austin, TX, Kenny Smith of Locust Grove, Penny Benton of Athens and Mandy McDaniel of Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Charles Smithgall Humane Society in Sautee-Nacoochee, GA, or to Drepung Loseling Buddhist Monastery in Atlanta.
