Mary Katherine Allman Obituary
It is with deep sorrow to announce the sudden passing of Rev. Dr. Mary Katherine Allman due to complications associated with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Following graduation from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas in July 1990, Mary Katherine served as deacon and priest from 1989 to 1991 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi, Texas and was ordained there in December 1990.
Following this, Mary Katherine served as a Chaplain at St. Mary's Episcopal School in Memphis, Tennessee. She then served as Chaplain at the Bishop School in La Jolla, California after completing the degree of Doctor of Ministry on May, 25, 2000 from the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Finally, following her retirement, and serving as a part-time minister in various capacities, Mary Katherine pursued her lifelong dream to serve at the World Community of Christian Meditators in Bonnevaux, France. Sadly, her second year of service there was cut short by the Covid Pandemic in 2021. Her dear friends of thirty years, Keith and Emilie Evans in Atlanta, Georgia welcomed her into their home until she was able to buy her own. The family will be forever grateful that Emilie Evans was by her side when she died. Mary Katherine leaves behind her two sisters Betty Brooke Melton and her husband June Melton of Austin, Texas, and Sue Ellen Atkinson, and her husband Allan Atkinson of Houston, Texas, several nephews, nieces and cousins in Texas, and friends from all over the world.
A celebration of life for Mary Katherine will be held on February 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M., at the Hotel Del (in the Coronet room) Coronado, California for family and friends.
