He is survived by: his wife Jane Bonapfel Mitchell; his children, Tony Mitchell (Angie), Matt Mitchell (Melissa) and Cindy Dye; his sister Martha Fortenberry; and his grandchildren, Ansley, Luke, Madeline, Taylor, Zachary and Carson.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family has asked for any donations to be made payable to The Wounded Warrior Project.
