He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas "W. T." Davis, Jr. and Sybil Hayes Davis; his wife Dale Lanthrip Davis; and his brother Troy Davis. He is survived by: his children, Ashley Taylor (James) of Sandersville and William Ray Bess of Lexington, NC; his grandsons, James Emory Taylor, III, Gary Lee Jump and Alex McIntyre; and his brothers, Roy Davis of Sandersville and Cecil Davis (Penny) of Tennille. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
