He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Taft Mercer and Laverne Morrison Adams; his sons, Jason Mercer and Shan Hobb; and his brother Andy Mercer.
He is survived by: his wife Debbie Mercer; his pet Bella Ann Mercer; his sons, Johnny "Scooter" Mercer of Haddock and Shayne Woods of Sandersville; his grandchildren, Alexis Clance, Alexis Mercer, Dalton Anderson and Lance Mercer (Jessica); and his nieces, Christie Thompson (Bud), Nickie Brooks (Steve), Brandy Faulkner and Michelle Collier (Brian). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
