He was predeceased by: his former wife Peggy Smith; his parents, Marvin O. Smith Sr. and Mary McRae Smith; and his sister Mardell Baker. He is survived by: his wife Janet M. Smith of Kingsland, GA; his children, Leslie Messinger of Summerville, SC and Michael Brown (Kim) of St. Mary's, GA; his grandchildren, Ashley Thomas (Brad) of Mobile, AL, James Messinger of Charleston, SC, Alex and Walker Brown of St. Mary's, GA; his great grandchildren, Keith, Connor and Kennedy Claire Thomas of Mobile Al; and his sisters, Donna Dearmond and Mary McDaniels of Texas.
