He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Irmarie Rogers Grier; his children, John S. (Roberta Grier III), Douglas A. Grier of Wakefield, Delphine L. (Rufus McQuaig), Kathryn M. (David Fischer) and Beth M. (Wendell Holmes); his siblings, Nancy Burke of Thomasville, GA and Irvin Grier of Valdosta, GA.; his significant other Mary Hoover; and his children, Lisa, Melissa and Craig. He was also cherished by 22 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren.
