He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Eugene Toney and Dolie Mae Hall Toney; his son Shawn Toney; his brothers-in-law, Gary Norris and Joe E. Thrasher; and his significant other Buster.

He is survived by: his wife Vivian Smith Toney; his sons, Kevin Toney of Hartwell, Phyllis of Hartwell, Ron Toney of Hartwell and Stacey of Hartwell; his sisters, Louise Norris and Phyllis Thrasher; his grandchildren, Kristi Myerholtz, Grant, Jessica Seawright, Jason, Brian Toney, Heather Toney and Shana Toney; and his great grandchildren, Cannan Myerholtz, Kylie Seawright, Makenna Seawright, Hayden Bryant, Braden Toney, Lillie Ann Myerholtz and Carter Toney.
