He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Betty Welch and Delbert Thompson; his brother David L. Davis; his nephew Duane McCoy; his wife Kim Atwood; his son Derrick Powell; his stepfather Joe Welch; his siblings, Joel Welch, Lisa Powell (Larry), Patricia McCoy (Charles), Ruth Lee (Mikey) and Charlotte Jay (David); his sister-in-law Janet Davis; and his grandsons, Brady Powell and Jason Powell. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
