He was predeceased by: his parents, Wiley Jackson and Willie Ruth Phillips; and his siblings, Danny Phillips and Sue Pickens. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Elizabeth Phillips (Hughes); his children, Lynn Nylander (David), Cindy Sosebee, Scott Outz and Tonya Phillips; his sister Mary Ann Pruitt (Billy); and his sister-in-law Wanda Phillips. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
