He was predeceased by: his wife Bette Bazemore Ireland; and his daughter Anne Combs. He is survived by: his former wife Anne Quillian of Savannah; his children, Deborah Thomas (Debbie) of Leesburg, FL, Lynn Leitson (David) of Roswell, GA, Curtis Ireland Jr. (Curt) and Michael Ireland (Mike) of Brooklyn, NY.; and his stepchildren, Tommy Ryle, Jr. and Kathryn Ryle Swift. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
