Chad Watson wrote a sympathy message

“Mrs. Abernathy was my 5th grade teacher at Alto Park. It was one of my best years of elementary school. She had a way of making each student feel that they were special and loved. Not only was she a great teacher, she was a great role model and always looked for ways to give of herself to others, both to her fellow teachers and to her students. Mrs .A... thank you for all you were to us and for the positive impact you had on hundreds and hundreds of students. Rest in Peace. -Chad Watson”
