He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Lee Brooks and Montine Edwards Brooks; and his sister Deborah Atkins. He is survived by: his wife Melissa Brooks of Rome, GA; his daughter Miranda Tonner (Andy) of Rome, GA; his brother Ricky Brooks (Nellie) of Rome, GA; his siblings-in-law, Jeffrey Duncan of Rome, GA and Robin Clark (Chad) of Rome, GA; and his granddaughters, Angelina Rhodes, Abigail Wilbur and Ava Wilbur. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
