He is survived by: his wife Beverly; his brothers, Dallas Smith (Linda) of Columbus and Michael Smith (Barbara) of Tampa, Florida.; his aunt Janice; his uncle Sam Bishop; his children, Tammy Franklin of Columbus, OH, Marvina Leatherwood (Fred) of Fort Wayne, Vita Smith, Gerard Goforth Sr., Shawn (Shanda) and Craig; his grandchildren, Craig Aubrey, Shelby, Co'Meh, Travis, Marcus, Rion, Carmese, Freddy, N'sya, Kyren, Jaylen, Gerard Jr. Cristina and Chauntelle; and his great grandchildren, Emmaley, Leona, Legend, Jenari Khimera, Creedence, Kye'Reu, Shawn III, Jewellyanna, Isabella and Ramina. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
