He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest "Ebb" Ward and Lois Alexander Ward; his wife Annie Ruth Ward; and his siblings, Fred, Emmit, Howard Ward and Betty Carnes.
He is survived by: his son James Edward Ward, Jr. (Caroline); his grandchildren, James Edward Ward III (Jamie), Kathlean Forsyth (James Matthew), Victoria Carroll and Emily Carroll; and his great grandchildren, Alexis Forsyth, James Daniel Forsyth and Bristol Peyton Forsyth. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
