He was predeceased by: his mother Iva Ruth Waters Lanier; his brother David Harold Lanier; and his niece Katie Marie Lanier. He is survived by: his father George Lanier of Rockmart; his wife Tina Deems Lanier; his daughter Melissa Joel Lanier of Jasper, GA; his brother Hugh Lanier of Camilla, GA; his nephews, David Lanier (Holly), Brad Lanier (April) and Jay Lanier; and his niece Whitney Waites (Brooke).
