He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Carter and Catherine Rodgers Carter. He is survived by: his children, Gabby Star Carter, Maria Carter and David P. Carter, II; his stepchildren, Kim Veneable and Donnie Wayne Veneable; and his siblings, Tim Carter, Eddie Carter, Patricia Eaves, Karen Stewart, Bobby Carter and Neil Carter. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
