He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Marvin James and North of Georgia; his sister Patricia Allen; his wife Carolyn Cavin Payne; his daughters, Lori Moore (Michael), Sheri Creekmur (Curtis) and Vicki Colwell (Randy); his sisters, Carolyn Rhinehart, Nancy Brackett and Melba Sparks; and his grandchildren, Ashley, Chance, Caleb, Joel, Maylon and Madilon. He was also cherished by 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
