He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Steele and Ruth Roberts Steele; and his sisters, Barbara Sue Roark and Brenda Cates. He is survived by: his spouse Sheila Coakley Steele; his children, Joseph Ronald Steele (Lucy) of Gordon and Catherine Steele Joiner (Tripp) of Hawkinsville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Melinda Steele, Jacob Steele, Michael Joiner and Meredith Joiner; his siblings, Joann Riley of Mebane, Faye Frye of Alamance, Larry Steele (Debbie) of Snow Camp and Bobby Steele (Thelma) of Burlington; his close friend Willie "Pedro" Coley; and his daughters, Angela Barrentine and Dawn Norris.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a contribution be made in memory of Mr. Steele to the Reflections Hospice in Cordele or The Brent Steele Memorial Fund 7851 Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp, N.C. 27349, C/O Lydia McBane.
