She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Burl Shoemake and Ovlean Dilbeck Shoemake; her husband Leon Swanson; her brothers, R. B., Emmett and Avery Shoemake; and her stepchildren, Darlene Ashley, Bobby Hayes and Janice Swanson.

She is survived by: her sons, Raymond Stapp (Sharon) of Lawrenceburg and Robert Barnes (Carlene) of Ringgold, Georgia; her stepchildren, Wayne Swanson (Cathy), David Swanson, Diane Carlton (Harold) and Ann Smith (Miret); and her sister-in-law Frieda Shoemake. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
