She was predeceased by: her husband Kenneth Coates; her parents, Herman Gray and Elizabeth Gray; her brothers, Jerry and Barry Gray; and her grandchildren, Justin and Chrystal Coates.

She is survived by: her sons, Dewayne Coates (Karen) and Daniel Coates; her grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer and Aaliyah; and her sister Becky Hall (Jackie). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
