He was predeceased by: his parents, Sarah Barger and James Riley Barger; and his sisters, Essie Young, Callie Kluttz, Geneva Bell, Myrtle Briggs, Gurla Watson, Thelma Koontz (Peg) and Lizzie Wagner (Toots).
He is survived by: his brothers, Marvin, Buck, Jake and Tom; his son-in-law Tim Campbell; his wife Barbara Ann Smith Barger; his sister Georgia Harris; his sister-in-law Edith Barger; his children, Sandra Campbell and James Curtis; his grandchildren, Grant Barger (Alison), Christina McKinnon (Carter), Triston Campbell and Mikala Campbell; and his great grandchild Sterling James McKinnon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Catoosa County Veterans Memorial Flag Fund, in care of Ringgold City Hall located at: 150 Tennessee Street, Ringgold GA 30736, as this was an organization close to Joe's heart.
