He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah Gates; his son Jerry Allen Gates, Jr.; and his granddaughters, April Lynn Gates and Nicole Gates. He is survived by: his children, Steve Gates, Cubby Michael Gates, Ronald A. Gates (Wendy) and Glen Gates; and his stepchildren, Rena Caradine (Mickey), Clint Harwood (Lynn) and Connie Lee Maple. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lane Funeral Home and Crematory-South Crest (833 Chickamauga Ave, Rossville, GA 30741). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Tn Ga Memorial.
