He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Boyd and Nellie Carroll Hargraves; his wife Margaret Sylvia Whalen Hargraves; his siblings, Mary Vaughn, Richard Hargraves and Joyce Rapier; his stepsons, Robert Mull and Lewis Revels; and his grandchildren, Samuel Hargraves and Gideon Hargraves.
He is survived by: his sons, Gary Hargraves (Carole) and Boyd Hargraves (Donna); and his grandchildren, Matthew Hargraves, H. Rachel Hoffert, Charity Gonce, Grace Crider, Caleb Hargraves, Peter Hargraves, R. Ethan Hargraves, Faith Nifong, Owen Hargraves and Isabelle Hargraves. He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.
