He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Edwards Whatley and Mary Monk Whatley; and his siblings, Dr. Edwards Whatley, James Clifford Whatley and Mary Elizabeth Whatley.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Whatley of Reynolds; his children, Mike Whatley (Carolyn) of Acworth, Stuart Whatley of Butler and Jill Whatley Wilson (Stan) of Milledgeville; his stepsons, Jim Athon of Oxford, AL and David Athon (Selena) of Chula, GA; and his brothers, Billy Whatley of Atlanta and Julian Whatley of Reynolds. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
