He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Cauley Barrow and Eula Jane Underwood Barrow; his siblings, Robert Barrow, Jeanett Beratt and Willorene Morrow; and his stepdaughter Lisa Barrow.

He is survived by: his children, G. L. Barrow of Reynolds, Doug Barrow of Appling, GA, Merita Jane Carpenter of Statesboro, Marcia Roach of Bonaire and Sue Teat of Phenix City, AL; his stepchildren, Bud Scott of Butler, Marsha Barrow of Reynolds and Vickie Taylor of Moreland; and his sister Betty Wray Robinson of Warner Robins. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
