He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence Phillips and Marie Phillips; his siblings, Bill Phillips and Gladys Shaw; and his siblings-in-law, Shirly Eskew, Lucile Kilpatrick, Betty Herndon, Wayne Herndon, Larry Herndon, Frank Taylor, Julian Eskew and Olin Blackstone.

He is survived by : his wives, Georgia Ann Herndon Phillips and Georgia Anne Herndon Phillips; his children, Tonya Phillips, Tad Phillips (Tammy) of Statesboro, Travis Phillips of Statesboro and Tony Phillips of Statesboro; his siblings, Jerry Phillips of Waynesboro, Bob Phillips (Ellen) of Waynesboro, Joey Phillips (Becky) of Waynesboro, Helen Taylor of Millen and Jane Rogers (Robert) of Waynesboro; and his siblings-in-law, Richard Herndon (Virginia), Tommy Herndon, Robert Herndon (Arlene), Arlon Herndon (Connie), Myrtle Lee Blackstone, Clara Dukes (Bubba) and Emily Goninan (Lance). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
