He was predeceased by: his father Walter Brookshire; his wife Mary Frances Brookshire; his son Ricky Brookshire (Norma); his son-in-law Lon Curtis; his siblings, Ed Brookshire, Jimmy Brookshire, William "Dee" Brookshire (Mildred), Billy Brookshire (Viola), Jessie Callahan (Ira) and Dorothy Powell (Alton); his brothers-in-law, JB McClain and Harold McKissick; and his mother-in-law Ethel Miller.
