He was predeceased by: his parents, Meriwether Flournoy Adams Jr. (Bubber) and Frances Elizabeth Martin. He is survived by: his wife Eedee Adams; his children, Brooks Martin Adams (Amanda) and Allison Olivia Adams; and his grandchildren, Avril and Calder Adams.

In lieu of flowers, Doug asked that donations be made to the Rabun Chapter of Trout Unlimited, PO Box 371 Clayton, GA 30525 or to the Smithgall Woods Education Center for the Youth Conservation Program, 61 Tsalaki Trail Helen, GA 30548.
