He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Messer and Lucy Brown Messer; and his siblings, Jesse Messer, Kenneth Messer, Don Messer, Carroll Messer, Paul Frady and Annie Sharpe.
He is survived by: his wife Opal Messer; his son Robert G Messer (Lee Ann); his sisters, Mary Lou Miller and Fay Reed; and his grandchildren, Blake Messer and Shane Messer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Battle Branch Baptist Church or any charity of your choosing.
