He was predeceased by: his parents, John Alton Giffin and Lilly Alean Plymale Griffin; his wife Hilda Grace Brooks Griffin; and his brothers, Lester Douglas, Marvin Eugene, Benny LeVerne and James Lamar.

He is survived by: his daughters, Pamela Styer (Thomas) of Boston, GA and Sharon Leslein (Arnold) of Quitman, GA.; his grandchildren, Megan Styer (Travis), Kristen Morris (James), Danielle Enden (Joshua), Austin Leslein, Jake Leslein and Preston Leslein; his great grandchildren, John Morris and Logan Enden; his sister Myrna Warga (Lewis); and his sisters-in-law, Therlisel Griffin, LaTia Brooks and Cheryl Brooks.
